Narrator Opening
Welcome back to our show, amici, come state? I know you’ve been very busy studying Italian lately and, well, I’m sure you’re already speaking quite well. As for Connor, he’s been very busy decorating his office. And the kid has good taste! Today he shows up to class holding a mysterious bright red briefcase. Inside, as it turns out, is a 1969 Olivetti Valentine typewriter. A true gem. Silvia is head over heels with joy. Beautiful, bold in design and affordable, she says, the Olivetti Valentine was a social phenomenon back then. The symbol of a new lifestyle. Silvia is a fan, she even visited the famous Negozio Olivetti in Venice, which was designed in the late 1950s as a showcase for the company’s philosophy.
All right. Time to walk away from the Olivetti store! Many more surprises lie ahead of us and I don’t want to keep waiting any longer. On the show today we’ll also talk about the fabulous life of Marquise Luisa Casati, the muse of countless artists and an artist herself. And then we’ll hear the story of Ca’ Dario, a haunted palazzo that casts its spooky shadow across the Canal Grande.
