Double Pronoun: Quanto

aa
AA
Quanto is a pronoun that is both indefinite (or demonstrative) and relative, hence its status as a double, or mixed, pronoun. Quanto can mean what, all that, that which, everything that, and everyone that, depending on the context. The Italian phrases that quanto may replace include ciò che, tutto ciò che, tutto quello che, and tutte le cose che.

  1. In its singular, neutral form, quanto only refers to things and not people. In these cases, quanto replaces (tutto) quello che, and (tutto) ciò che ([all] that which or what).
