As you may have noticed, it is quite common to use the present tense to express future actions, especially when the action is imminent and/or when it is accompanied by an expression of future time. For example, I can say, Domani vado a prendere i bambini alle 10 di mattina (Tomorrow I’ll get the kids at 10 in the morning). In this phrase, I’ve used the present tense to convey a future action.
