The form of the indeterminate article (meaning a or an) in Italian depends on the noun and gender that it modifies, as well as on the first letter(s) of the word which follows it. The table below shows all the forms.

Masculine

Feminine

Before a consonant un una
Before S + consonant, Z, or PS uno una
Before a vowel un un’
